What is the difference between Freight Collect and Freight Prepaid?

The freight is essentially the cost of international shipping.

Freight Collect means that the receiver is responsible for all freight charges. It implies that shipping, as well as additional charges, are the responsibility of the shipment receiver. It is seen in the case of FOB.

What do FOB, CFR, and CIF terms mean in shipping?

FOB, CFR, and CIF are international shipping agreements used in the transportation of goods between a buyer and a seller.

  • FOB: Under FOB shipping terms, the seller is responsible for all costs involved in the process up until the goods are on a vessel at the designated port.

  • CFR: is a trade term that requires the seller to transport goods by sea to the buyer’s destination. (Includes the cost of shipping but excludes the insurance).

  • CIF: is what a seller pays to cover the cost of shipping, as well as the insurance to protect against the potential damage of loss to a buyer's order. (Includes the cost of shipping & insurance).
